Kuzmeski talks to JoJaSell about her book - The Connectors
I wrote The Connectors knowing that relationships are critically important in business.
The key isn’t knowing relationships are important, though. The key is knowing what to do to make them better. Through
interviews of hundreds of successful businesspeople, CEO’s and founders of companies, I sought to detail the tangible
how to’s of creating better business relationships. In the book, "The Connectors" I’ve outlined the
approaches used by the world’s most prolific connectors that have lead to their ability to create powerful business
relationships.
So, what
is it that makes the world's most successful individuals so good at their jobs? What do they do that others don't?
The Connectors answers those questions with the kind of straightforward wisdom that business strategists so often overlook.
Forget marketing tactics or business school best practices. Those are handy, but it's really people—and the relationships
you build with them—that form the cornerstone of long-term success, sales growth, and excellence.
Whether you're a salesperson, an entrepreneur, or an executive, your ultimate job is to bring in clients
and keep them. The Connectors presents a five-step methodology that helps you build the kind of high-quality relationships
that lead to lifelong clients, repeat customers, and endless referrals.

The World’s Most Successful Businesspeople Build Relationships and Win Clients for Life.
Margaret
Karlin talks to JoJaSell about her life, and her new project - Virtuous Women
I wrote
Virtuous Women because I am a member of the 'Silent Generation', and felt badly about how it compared to The Greatest
Generation. It seemed to me to write about it in the context of the times would help to explain how it laid the foundation
for the many changes that were to come in the sixties-- integration, mental illness, and women's roles.
In the 1950s, four
young women find themselves on diverse yet parallel paths as they mature and grow in the repressive Eisenhower era. ( Kate,
Rebecca, and Sue Ann) work as nurses at a large Chicago medical complex and live at a home for recently graduated ( see white
unmarried) nurses. This old mansion, situated in a rapidly changing neighborhood, is called Kenwood House. The fourth, (June),
recently married has moved to a split level in the suburbs -- achieving what society feels is the ultimate dream of every
right-thinking woman. It is a lesson on how fleeting life can be. Because they live in an era where appearances
are more important than truth they come to realize the danger of hidden truths -- speak out against the turmoil that rages
beneath false images -- they will no longer be silent members of the 'silent generation.'
I grew up in Scotland and returned to Chicago as a teenager so know what it is like to be an outsider. I always wanted
to write and when a student nurse loved writing case studies. As a graduate nurse I published an article on mental health
but never thought I would have the luxury of writing a novel. I am now putting together a memoir called, Dumbarton, the
Journey Back. Dumbarton is the town I lived in during WW11. it was subject to heavy bombing and I was evacuated
too the Scottish Highlands. In it I compare that battle to my battle with cancer.
On January 31st I will be
featured on a program on KOCE called RECONCILIATION. It is a one hour spiritual talk show where I respond to questions
on how I survived life's adversities.
Shoe-ologist
Donna Sozio talks to JoJaSell about how she became a shoe-ologist and explains her new book - Never Trust
A Man In Alligator Loafers
People often ask me how I became a Shoe-ologist and why I wrote
my book Never Trust a Man in Alligator Loafers. Since I can remember, like some people read palms, I read people
by their shoes. When my friends and I began dating in high school, I started giving love advice based on… yes you guessed
it, men’s shoes. Just from my friends’ descriptions of their love interests’ Creepers, Vans and Converse
(it was the late 80’s), I was able to tell if they were a match – or not.
After nearly 20 years of giving my friends love and life advice
based on shoes, enough people asked me to write a book that I finally did it. So here we are… Never Trust a Man
in Alligator Loafers was born. And since Tyra Banks dubbed me a Shoe-ologist the rest is history. I hope you’ll read my book so you can find out if your guy is right for
you… or if he’s just another (shoe) frog.
Today I do Shoe Personality Predictions for Louis Vuitton, Macys, Cole Haan and more. Everyday people email me for
their own Shoe Personality Predictions. Feel free to be one of them. You can always reach me at donnasozio@gmail.com. I love what I do. Changing your shoes is easy, fun, and most importantly it
can get you where you want to go in life in record time. Whatever you want more of, you can get it just by a proper shoe fix.
Marian
Baker talks to JoJaSell about her life, work and book - Wake Up Inspired
"Joy is the
essence of success," my tea tag tells me--just as I sit to write about my book at Jon’s request for Jojasell. How
perfect. That could be the answer to what inspired me to write this book. So many bright, successful professionals come to
me seeking "something more," to make a change in their lives and even make a difference in the world, but not knowing
how. They say, "Am I your only client that feels this way?
I felt called to write Wake Up Inspired to spread the encouraging news that millions of us are now in a "revolution" of waking up to a whole new
story of how we create success for our healthier, joyful, truly prosperous future. I’m so excited about how this is
evolving into equipping professionals to be the new kinds of conscious leaders we need. We’re having fun with a new
Inspired Leadership/Chief Inspiration officer program and toolkit. I just got an email from someone talking about how this
work is changing his life. I’m so grateful for the privilege of this work and humbled for the joy I feel in my own life
today.
Once upon a time I
was trying hard to achieve success according to the formulas I’d been taught and inherited. Born in 1961, educated in
the 70’s and in 1983 hit Chicago’s Michigan Avenue in an advertising career. Close your eyes and see this earnest
little account exec in my burgundy bow tie, white button down blouse, navy suit, burgundy briefcase and pumps. All that burgundy
leather was called Oxblood. This should have been a warning clue right there! LOL We don’t dress that way anymore.
We shouldn’t be trying to achieve success in those old story ways anymore either.
More and more people want to combine mind-body-spirit growth and real
world achievement. They want pragmatic how-to support, not just parables. Unfortunately, this is not really taught
in school, on the job or hardly anywhere else. The Wake Up Inspired book offers a roadmap and tools to begin that journey. My hope is that it will serve as a launch pad for the transformation of
your life, livelihood and leadership that is your path of Joy.

Super
Boss, David Freemantle talks to JoJaSell about his passion for writing, his life, work and book - Wanted
I was born in Southampton UK. When I was 15 my ambition was to become a famous writer. Over the next six
years I wrote two novels (using an old-fashioned mechanical typewriter I’d purchased with my pocket money). I sent each
novel to many publishers and was consistently rejected. One of the things you learn to live with as a writer is rejection.
(It is reported that J.K.Rowling had Harry Potter rejected by twenty publishers before being accepted.)
Over the next twenty years I didn’t write. I concentrated on bringing up a family and developing
my career in management. This resulted in me being appointed to the board of an airline at 39. This was the early 1980’s
and much of work was dealing with militant trade unions. In 1984, following a disagreement with the board I was fired. This
coincided with my first marriage breaking up. So there I was, ‘out on the street’ with no job, no wife, no house
and very little money. And this was in the middle of a recession!
I decided to set up a training and consultancy business and write
a book. I sent the book to four publishers and within seven days two came back saying they wanted to publish it. I chose one
and the advance I received helped me out of my financial crisis. The book, entitled Superboss, also provided a useful platform
for promoting my consultancy business and securing assignments. Superboss was so successful it was reprinted innumerable times
and published in twenty languages.
Gradually my teaching activities evolved
from leadership and motivation to customer service. When my publisher learnt this they commissioned me to write a book on
customer service. This again was very successful and resulted in me receiving invitations from around the world (to give speeches
and present training seminars). I worked in the USA, Africa, the Middle East as well as extensively in Asia.
Come 2005 my second
marriage broke up. By this time a large proportion of my training work was in Asia (Singapore, Philippines and China mainly).
In 2007 I fell in love with a young Filipina lady and decided to uproot myself – moving to the Philippines. I was 65
at the time. Having written 16 books on how to become a successful boss or how to deliver world-class customer service I was
trying to think what to write about next. The inspiration came whilst sitting on an aeroplane on a flight from Singapore to
Manila. I would write a book that focused on employees. That’s how WANTED was conceived.
Despite the recession it was obvious to me that some individuals were much better at getting jobs
or holding down jobs than others. Even in a recession there are vacancies. So WANTED is all about the qualities and attributes
required to become the most wanted employee around.
The book has
been in the bookstores for four months now and my publishers inform me it is selling exceptionally well – with W.H.Smith
featuring it as one of their top ten business best-sellers. The rights have also been sold for translation into Chinese, Arabic,
Portuguese (in Brazil) and Korean.
The
Dream Doctor, Kelly Sullivan Walden talks to JoJaSell about her life, work and book - I Had The Strangest Dream
Over years of working with hundreds of clients, I began
to see dreams as a way of doing laser surgery on the soul, in that dreams leave tell-tale clues as to the most direct route
to an individual’s unique route to healing or to their one-of-a-kind way to thrive. When I realized that no dream books
on the market dealt with contemporary symbols or synthesized the realm of dream interpretation in the life-affirming way I did, I felt compelled to write my latest
book, I Had The Strangest Dream, The Dreamer's Dictionary For The 21st Century. ISBN 044669603X
I began my dream research at the
age of five! Growing up, my younger sister and I shared a room. Every morning, we would wake up excited to share our dreams
and compare notes about what we thought our night-time adventures might have meant. We bought up every dream dictionary we
could find and poured through them to widen the spectrum of our understanding. When I grew a little older I became interested
in Carl Jung, Carlos Castaneda, in addition to many other spiritual and esoteric teachers, who took my understanding of dreams
to a deeper level.
Fifteen years ago, when I became a certified clinical
hypnotherapist, I began working with clients via their subconscious minds to access their core beliefs, drives, and desires,
in order to more effectively assist them to heal from past traumas and to align with their future goals.
It has been such an honor to have been asked to appear on numerous television, news, and radio programs over
the past few years to talk about my passion and empower so many people on a mass level. I never could have dreamed that there
would be such a mainstream interest in dreams. But, of course there would be - it is one thing we all have in common…and
in understanding our dreams (or at least being in touch with them) can exponentially enhance our lives, our intuition, and
our ability to expedite the process of making our desires come true.
Two years ago
I became President of the Women’s National Book Association (LA Chapter), and as a result was invited to participate
in a conference at the United Nations (a dream come true). It was there that I received the insight (imagine the feeling of
being struck by lightening) to begin The Dream Project www.DreamProjectUN.org, an educational program that inspires students (grades 6–12) to discover (dream)
and invent solutions to the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals (goals to combat, by 2015: poverty, hunger,
disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation, and discrimination against women. The Dream Project has been nominated for
a CTAUN Best Practices Award (Committee on Teaching About the United Nations) and has become the most fulfilling work I’ve
ever done.
I could have never been receptive to such a great and ambitious calling had I not been in the practice
of bridging the gap between my night-time dreams and day-time desire/purpose. By the way, as a result of the Dream Project,
last year, not only was I invited to attend a conference at the United Nations, but I was invited to speak and share about
the Dream Project, the absolute, highlight of my career.
You
never know what might happen to you once you begin paying attention to your dreams…you might discover gold in your
own backyard, find the cure for cancer, speak before the United Nations, or find out the reason you were born and the way
to fulfill your highest destiny!

"'Life is not a dress rehearsal. We need to live every
day as if it is our last. That being said, my life often feels as if it is one big to-do list. I struggle to remain in the
moment, so I can enjoy the events and people in my life, yet all of the mandatory to-do "stuff" always seems to
fill my days. There's the car battery that goes dead on the way home from work, my mother who calls to just chat while
I am on a deadline for an article and my husband who can't find the kitchen in our house, so I am forced to get him his
nightly cocktail. I am solidly entrenched in middle-age dealing with the lines around my eyes that just seemed to appear out
of nowhere. Then there's the hot flashes that brings on beads of moisture during an important presentation. And my "inflatable"
belly that I exercise to keep from getting larger than my breasts!
I've
come to realize that my to-do list is interchangeable with the term life. Life really is one big to-do list. Having
come to terms with this, I am learning how to better manage my to-do list. I only commit to one charity a year, I give myself
plenty of time to finish a project and I am practicing saying No to my husband, parents and children. I am learning how to
take time for myself to make sure I am living the best life I am able. As one of my favorite deceased humorist once said,
'I rarely find life funny.' I found it humorous that she said this in one of her books because she always kept me
laughing. I hope to touch your lives with my books as she has touched mine. Be grateful for your health, live your life with
humor and give a hug to someone who needs it." Life Is One Big To-Do List: A Woman’s Life after 40 Written By: Terri Lee Ryan (www.terrileeryan.com) Book release date -March 2009 ISBN 978-1-60693-567-5

O'Leary - 'I was
always driven, and I was always competitive. The harder you work, the luckier you get. You make your own breaks'
Michael O'Leary is a business giant. He transformed Ryanair from a loss-making joke of an Irish
carrier into one of the most valuable airlines in the world and has never been far from the headlines. But for all the publicity,
little is known about Michael O'Leary beyond the carefully constructed image of the plucky little Paddy in jeans who is
sticking it to the big boys. In this, the first biography of O'Leary, Alan Ruddock portrays the man in three dimensions,
from his unsettled middle class childhood to his meteoric rise to the top of Ryanair when still in his early thirties. And
he examines the business miracle - often talked about but poorly understood - whereby Ryanair's passenger numbers and
profits have continued to grow while the rest of the airline industry has been forced to retrench.

on the uses of the mind will stimulate people in all walks of life to cultivate important new mental habits.
We live in a time of vast changes that include accelerating globalisation, mounting quantities

ways of learning and thinking in school, business, and the professions. In Five Minds For the Future, noted psychologist Howard
Gardner defines the cognitive abilities that will command a premium in the years ahead - the disciplinary mind, the synthesizing
mind, the creating mind, the respectful mind, and the ethical mind.
Armed
with these well-honed capacities, a person will be equipped to deal with what is expected in the future - as well as what
cannot be anticipated. Without these minds, individuals can't understand - overwhelmed by information, unable to succeed
in the workplace, and incapable of making judicious decisions about personal and professional matters.
All Visitors Ashore By C K Stead ISBN 0-908877-51-x
Middle-aged Auckland academic Professor Curl Skidmore looks back thirty years to the time of the great waterfront
dispute of 1951, when he was a young poet living in a Takapuna beach flat with the beautiful Maori-French-Celtic Patagonia
de Thierry. His bohemian mentor is the artist Melior Farboro, who provides a refuge for ex-nun and ex-psychiatric patient
Cecelia Skyways. She desires Curl, but he has designs on Felice, the voluptuous wife of violinist and restauranteur Nathan
Stockman. One by one, to the cry 'All visitors ashore', Curl's friends and acquantencies are taken from him in
ocean liners to the other side of the world. The story of Curl's experience of that 'first year of the second half
of the twentieth century', when his life is marked by confusion, conquests, departures and depletions, is recounted in
the present tense so that, although the novel takes the form of a memoir, the effect is also of gazing into the future. Technically
dazzling, witty, erotic, bizarre, wonderfully observant and exuberant, All Visitors Ashore is a virtuoso exploration of time
and rememberance, of love andthe falling apart of relationships, of age and the joy of youth.
